Children’s Services IT Project
Assurance over new IT system implementation for Children’s Services.
The Challenge.
The Council aimed to replace an outdated an unsupported legacy system for Children’s Services and provide service efficiencies, improved reporting and remote working capabilities for Social Workers. The Council was nearing completion and as they approached go-live, Senior Managers were concerned the project was not ready to proceed.
The One Eighty Approach.
We provided the following services, which in effect acted as a stage gate prior to go-live:
Worked with the Project and leadership team to determine the minimum standards required for the project to go live (both technical and operational);
Developed assessment criteria for the project to demonstrate its readiness against;
Supported the project team to complete its own assessment of readiness; and
Independently reviewed the projects assessment and associated evidence to ensure it was accurate.
The End Result.
The outcome was a management report, which we presented to the Project Board, setting out an analysis of the projects readiness to proceed. Whilst the project was not 100% ready to go-live, Senior Managers had a clear understanding of the areas which presented a risk to the Council and to vulnerable Children and were able to proceed with go-live confident that the project had mitigation plans and workarounds in place, should issues arise.
